Walk your own path and let others walk theirs.

Other people, even people you hold dearly, may misunderstand you, may turn on you and even start hating you. You don’t have control over their beliefs and emotions; they are walking their own paths. What do you have control over? Your own thoughts and feelings and behavior. You can choose to love people unconditionally. That means continuing to love them regardless of how they think of you or even treat you. You may have to separate yourself from them for your sake or theirs, but you can keep loving them. It’s up to you.

You also have control over your attitude in life. Your life is a path in a garden. You won’t really appreciate how soft and wonderful the grass feels beneath your feet until you step on a sharp rock for contrast. So appreciate the calamities in life as they allow you to appreciate living. And if you slow down to see life as you walk it, you will find that it’s beautiful and you are connected to it.

So, enjoy your path and enjoy improving your life’s walk. You’re not really going anywhere in life, you are just living. Don’t be in a hurry or you’ll miss out on what’s real in life: not the past or the future, but the ever-evolving present moment.
