In the 1968 Star Trek episode Spectre of the Gun, Spock uses a mind meld to convince his human shipmates that the bullets of a gun are are not real and will pass through them harmlessly. Removing all doubt is the only way that the crew can survive the otherwise deadly illusion created my the telepathic inhabitants of the planet they are visiting.
There are many spiritual practices that likewise require the surrendering of doubt. If you want to manifest a different reality, enter a third eye portal or engage in mystic dream practices, there is a gate you must pass through. Passage requires a payment: The release of all attachment to your normal, waking reality, to everything you “know” to be true. It’s hard to do without Spock giving you a Vulcan mind-meld.
Of course, life is a great adventure in its ordinary state that most people experience. You may not have the inclination, or think you have the time, to explore experiences out of the material world we see around us. But if you want to know what else is out there, if you don’t want to miss out on the fantastic while taking this brief human trip, or if you want to learn more about the universe than books can ever convey, you’ll need to do some surrendering.
Surrendering the chatter of the mind, and fully immersing oneself into an unknown experience, can be hard for anybody, but especially for people with obsessive compulsive thinking.
