Quiet Inside

Can you allow yourself to be empty?

A vessel of calm?

Can you let the storms rage about, staying untouched inside?

You sway, in acknowledgement of the wind

You hear the rumble outside your body

Inside is quiet

Empty

A smooth and effortless being

Inside, all atoms, inside the atoms, all space

Outside, all space, inside the space, atoms

Inside those atoms, space

It turns out that all sub-atomic particles are made of cream cheese

Don’t worry, it’s lactose-free.

There’s no barrier — it’s mushy between inside and outside

I can be inside me looking out

Or outside me looking in

Yang, Yin

Expand, Contract

Sky, Ground

Air, Earth

Grow, Rooted

Heaven and Earth meet and dance in my solar plexus

You are safe, and calm and powerful

You are ocean waves

You have evolved here

It’s your planet

Don’t let anyone take it away from you.

Why do you think the planet made you?
