Manifesting and OCD

As a thinking part of the Universe, you manifest your own reality, consciously, subconsciously, or superconsciously. You may be able to manifest your way out of OCD, but the nature of OCD makes it tough.

To be the best vessel to send clear intentions out to the Universe, you need to sweep aside the clutter of your mind. OCD and related disorders are the ultimate mind clutter. You may find it difficult to meditate, for example, if you are compulsively repeating thoughts or desperately trying to push unwanted thoughts out of your head.

One way to approach this dilemma is to think about the protective mission of the ego mind that is creating your OCD. The OCD is there, albeit irrationally, to stave off disaster of some kind; to make your life come out the right way. But if you can let your ego know that by releasing OCD you can have the peace of mind conducive to manifesting your desired life, your ego might be willing to take the chance. It’s like trying to get a dog to release a gnarly bone they’ve picked up by offering them a much better treat.

The three basic steps to manifestation are:

  1. Asking for what you want
  2. Imagining and feeling that you already have it
  3. Feeling grateful for receiving
  4. Surrendering and trusting that the Universe will deliver

All four steps require pure intent and feeling. Step #4 requires nothing getting in the way; while surrendering and accepting your manifestation, you should have a thought-free mind. This is where you can set aside your obsessive thinking in order to be open to something much more powerful — miracles.

Practice

  • Sit comfortable with a straight back, palms facing up. Close your eyes.
  • Take a few very slow, very deep breaths, holding for a few seconds at the top of each breath; breath from deep within the diaphragm. Listen to the sound of each breath.
  • Continue to breath deeply. There’s no need to think about the mechanics of breathing; just continue to pay attention to the sound of your breath.
  • Let all thoughts go. If there’s something you feel you must think about, promise it that you will get back to it after this meditation — put the thought aside in a bin for later.
  • After you’ve spent a good 30 seconds or more focusing only on your breath, think, “I am one with the Universe. I am connected to all that is. My vessel is open and ready to receive all of my manifestations.”
  • Gently open your eyes.

Enjoy the feeling of peace. The more you can put aside obsessive thinking, the more access you will have to this peace and tranquility.
